n April 2013, the State Government awarded the contract for major construction works to a consortium of companies including McConnell Dowell, Balfour Beatty Rail, Parsons Brinckerhoff and Beca.
This is a $159 million dollar Springvale Road, Springvale level crossing removal that will grade separate Springvale Rd by lowering the rail below Springvale Road by about 7 metres. This will therefore remove the conflict between vehicle and train transportation. It will improve significant traffic flow on north-south route 40 highway. It is a major investment funded by Liberal Government and will reinvigorate the Springvale shopping district.
